Green Tip of the Week

Electronic devices such as computers, printers and cell phone chargers continue to draw electricity even when not in use, in a process called Standby power. You can reduce your energy usage by plugging these devices into a "smart" power board, turning off computers when you are finished using them, and unplugging devices from outlets when not in use.

24-Jan 2012: Quantum computing breakthrough?
A recent discovery could mean a quantum upgrade to the classical binary system of the silicon-chip based computer. Scientist have shown that in addition to the standard on/off charge of electrons (to create 1's and 0's), another property known as "orbital degree of freedom" may be harnessed to establish an additional set of on/off states.
